Questions about Block Island

Where is Block Island? Block Island is located in the Atlantic Ocean, 13 miles South of the Rhode Island coast and 17 miles Northwest of Long Island.

How do you get to Block Island? Block Island is only accessible by boat or by plane.  A 13 mile ferry ride from Point Judith, RI takes either 55 minutes (traditional ferry service) or 25 minutes (seasonal high speed service). Can I bring my car on the ferry? Yes. Vehicles may be brought to Block Island on the Point Judith ferry.  Reservations must be made in advance. Click here or call 866-783-7996.

Can I leave my car on the mainland? Yes. Parking is available at all transport depots.  Cars are not necessary on Block Island.

Do I need a ferry reservation? Reservations are recommended for all transport to Block Island, unless you are coming from Point Judith on foot.

Can I bring my pet to Block Island and on the ferry? Yes. Block Island is a dog loving community and we have several pet friendly accommodations. The ferry and planes allow pets on a leash or in a crate. We allow pets in all of our accommodations with private entrances. We ask that you not leave your pet unattended during your stay without leaving us a cell phone number should your pet become disruptive to other guests.  We also charge a $50 fee per pet/per stay, to cover housekeeping costs. 

 

Can I visit Block Island any time of year? Yes.  Though ferry service is limited and few restaurants/shops are open, the Island is a serene, relaxing winter getaway.

Do I need to bring my car? Most guests do not bring their cars. We have free parking spaces available at the inn.

 

 

Questions about The Darius Inn

Will there be a deposit on my reservation? Yes, we charge a 50% deposit payable by cash, check, or credit card. 

Can I cancel my reservation? In the event that you must cancel your reservation two weeks before your scheduled arrival we will issue a refund of your deposit minus a $35 cancelation fee (per room).  If you must cancel your reservation within two weeks of your stay, we will hold your deposit on file for a future stay.  Should you cancel or shorten your reservation within 48 hours of your stay, your deposit will not be refunded.  “No-shows” will be charged for the full reservation. Early departures will be charged in full unless we are notified 48 hrs before departure. Early departures will be given a credit for future use if notified more than 48 hours before departure.

Do you have gift certificates? We offer gift certificates year around for any amount. Gift certificates can be used in any of our accommodations and never expire. Click here, call us, or email us to purchase a gift certificate. 

Can I bring an additional person? Several of our accommodations have space for additional persons. We charge a $25 fee per night. Please advise us as early as possible if you will have an extra guest so that arrangements can be made for an air mattress, linens and food.
